Trade Finance Mechanism
Skyocean is a hybrid platform: traditional commodity trading underneath, crypto-native trade-cycle financing on top. SMEs in emerging and developing markets — typically turned away by banks because of perceived counterparty risk and KYC friction — interact with Skyocean exactly as they would with any trade-finance provider. Merchants do not need a wallet, do not transact in tokens, and do not need to understand blockchain. The crypto layer is invisible to the SMEs being served.
How a trade cycle is financed
For SKYT holders who want to provide trade-cycle financing:
- A cycle opens. Skyocean approves a specific trade — commodity, corridor, buyer, value, timeline — and publishes the cycle’s commercial terms, including the financing return offered for that cycle.
- Lock SKYT into the cycle’s smart contract. A KYC-verified holder commits capital by locking SKYT into the cycle’s on-chain trade-finance contract. Lock duration is the trade cycle, not a pre-defined period.
- The trade runs. Goods ship. Independent attestations flow into the DKG (customs clearance, inspection, Bill of Lading, port arrival, payment confirmation).
- The smart contract releases on DKG verification. When the DKG-recorded convergence and payment confirmation pass the cycle’s rulebook, the smart contract releases the locked SKYT back to participants together with the financing return — paid in USDC.
Skyocean executes every trade as principal — Skyocean owns the commodity, holds title through transit, files customs paperwork, arranges shipping, and bears the operational risk. There is no staking-for-period, no APY tier, no profit-sharing arrangement. The financing return is set at participation time per the cycle’s commercial terms; it is the price Skyocean pays for the working capital that funded that specific trade.
Capital protection
Tokens locked into a cycle’s smart contract never leave that contract for any other purpose. The contract is conditional: release happens only when the DKG verifies that the trade has completed. Capital protection is enforced at the protocol level — by the contract itself — not by a separate guarantee or insurance arrangement. If a cycle’s verification rulebook isn’t satisfied (dispute or cancellation), the contract releases the locked tokens back to participants under the cycle’s documented dispute path.

Tokenomics
Token Utility

- Governance Participation
- Trade-cycle financing — locking SKYT into a cycle’s on-chain smart contract commits capital as trade finance for that cycle. The contract releases the tokens plus the financing return on DKG-verified completion. No staking, no APY, no profit-sharing.
